Welcome to the official headquarters for my journey into the United States Marine Corps.
I created this website for family & friends for their use in writing on the blogs created and reading general
posts created by myself when I can.
Today, December 30, 2008, I met with my Staff SGT. at the Potsdam office. We went over the ASVAB test and problems
that I face with the test. The hardest part is the math section. After completion with the practice test, he scored the sections
completed and told me that the Math areas are workable.
Staff Sgt. has set me up to take the paper written test in Canton, NY on January 13, 2009. Upon completing the
exam, he will determine the scores. If the scores are workable for a waiver to get in, then he will do that for me knowing
that I really want to do this.
After the test is complete and I'm all set ready to go, I will then begin the signing of paperwork. I will also
be taken to Albany, NY by my Staff Sgt. to complete the overall medical procedures required in order to head to Boot Camp
in SC.
I will be issued at that point my date of deployment to Boot Camp. I will return home to await my departure date.
During this time I will spend as much time with family & friends as I can. I will be again taken to Albany, NY by my Staff
Sgt. to see me off the jet to SC to begin Boot Camp.
I'm not scared yet, only because the paper work isn't all signed. Before the time I leave, I will be working on
my skills in running, pushups, sit ups, pull ups and other major areas as directed by my Staff Sgt. This will mentally prepare
me for Boot Camp to a certain point.
Once completed with Boot Camp, I will return home on leave for ten days. During this time, I will visit with family
and friends. Once my leave is complete, I must report to Jackson, SC to begin my field training. During the field training,
I will be taught the over all operations of combat. Working with fire arms, etc. This is usally a 22 day session. I will spend
part of those 22 days living outside.
I will also be assigned my Military Job. This will be the job I will perform and learn and have to do for about
two-years. After two-years I can decide if I want to change.
I will after field training is complete, head to another location in the world, to start my schooling for my new
job code.
From there, I have no idea where I will be heading. My Staff Sgt, stated from there they will send me to a location
in the world that is in need of my job code that I can perform.
